WIT BROWSER

앱은 페이지 JavaScript에 Global Privacy Control(GPC)과 Do Not Track(DNT) 선호 신호를 제공합니다.

WebView.

  • 엄격 보안(기본값): Cloudflare DNS over HTTPS(cloudflare-dns.com)만 사용합니다.

  • https://easylist.to/easylist/easylist.txt
  • https://easylist.to/easylist/easyprivacy.txt
  • https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@list-kr/filterslists@latest/dist/filterslist-uBlockOrigin-classic.txt

Web Storage

10. Android

English version

WIT BROWSER Privacy Policy

Hyun Shin (신현, developer display name WIT, the “Developer”) provides this Policy to explain what information WIT BROWSER for Android (the “App”) processes, where it is sent, and how long it remains on the device. This Policy describes the current implementation of WIT BROWSER 5.4 distributed through Google Play.

The App is intended only for users aged 18 or older. A person under 18 should not use the App.

1. Summary

  • The App has no WIT account system, Developer-operated synchronization server, first-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or behavioral telemetry SDK.
  • The Developer does not use the App to collect advertising identifiers, device identifiers, contacts, precise location, payment information, or the device video library on a Developer-operated server.
  • Browsing traffic goes directly to the websites, content providers, CDNs, and other services selected or invoked by the user. They may process the user's public IP address and ordinary browser-request information under their own policies.
  • The password vault, restart-restorable tab information, download records, and most settings remain on the device. Sensitive stores use Android Keystore-backed encryption and are excluded from Android backup as described below.
  • When Automatic browser bypass is enabled, DNS queries are sent to Cloudflare. In global Compatibility mode, Cloudflare, Google Public DNS, Quad9, and the Android system DNS path may receive the same query in parallel.
  • When the user requests a filter update, the App connects to filter-distribution servers operated by EasyList, jsDelivr, or AdGuard.
  • The Developer does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Network information may nevertheless be sent directly to user-selected websites and the external providers identified in this Policy as necessary to provide the requested functions.
  • The App is not a VPN, Tor client, remote proxy exit, or anonymity service. It does not guarantee complete anonymity, freedom from tracking, detection of every threat, or successful access to every website.

Local and network processing is performed to provide the browsing, security, media, download, password, and tab-restoration functions requested by the user; reduce fraud, abuse, and security threats; and retain user-selected settings. Optional permissions and vault storage are based on the user's consent or explicit action and can be withdrawn. A request sent directly to the Developer is processed only as needed to handle the request and meet legal or dispute-response obligations.

2. Web browsing and information processed by websites

When the user opens an address or follows a link, the App connects to the requested website and third-party resources embedded by that page. Websites, embedded-content providers, content delivery networks (CDNs), TURN servers, sign-in providers, and download hosts may receive:

  • the public IP address and approximate location that may be inferred from it;
  • User-Agent, request time, requested URL, Referer, and ordinary HTTP request headers;
  • cookies, session tokens, Web Storage data, and identifiers created by the site;
  • names, email addresses, account details, messages, files, and any other information the user enters or uploads; and
  • information produced through JavaScript, Web Storage, browser fingerprinting, or the site's own analytics tools.

This information does not pass through a Developer-operated server, and the Developer does not receive or inspect it. Each website or service processes it independently under its own privacy policy. Users should assess the site's policy and trustworthiness before submitting sensitive information.

The App permits JavaScript and DOM Storage because modern websites and media players depend on them. Website cookies and Web Storage may remain on the device until their website-defined expiration time, the user uses Clear browsing data, Android app storage is cleared, or the App is uninstalled.

Strict security and site compatibility

Strict security is enabled by default and:

  • upgrades top-level http:// navigation to HTTPS without an automatic cleartext retry;
  • blocks HTTP mixed content and third-party cookies;
  • requires a user gesture for media playback and denies automatic protected-media identifier permission; and
  • restricts selected attribution behavior and legacy WebView database storage.

If the user grants Media compatibility for this site to a trusted website, mixed content, third-party cookies, or protected-media compatibility settings may be relaxed for that host. The exception exists only in memory, expires after one hour, and is not restored after the App process ends.

If the user acknowledges the warning and disables Strict security globally, Compatibility mode is enabled. Compatibility mode may permit mixed content, third-party cookies, automatic media playback, protected-media identifiers from secure origins, and system-DNS fallback. It therefore provides less privacy and transport protection.

3. Tabs, browsing state, and local web data

To restore tabs after an App restart, the App stores each tab's current URL and the selected-tab index in the device's noBackupFilesDir. The snapshot is authenticated and encrypted with a separate Android Keystore AES-256-GCM key, written atomically, and excluded from Android app backup.

The snapshot does not include prior back/forward history, page DOM, text being entered, or live page state. Current tab URLs remain until replaced by a newer snapshot, Clear browsing data is used, Android app storage is cleared, or the App is uninstalled. The DOM, script state, navigation history, and temporary media authorization associated with an open page may exist in process memory while the App is running.

WebView-managed cookies, Web Storage, HTTP-authentication data, saved form data, and cache may be stored on the device. They can be removed using the controls described in Section 9.

4. Ad and tracker blocking, redirect protection, Safe Browsing, and WebRTC

When ad and tracker blocking is enabled, the App applies bundled rules and user-downloaded filters to block ad requests, page elements, and a conservative set of high-confidence third-party tracking endpoints. It cannot guarantee that every ad, tracker, browser fingerprint, or malicious behavior will be blocked, and it may allow some requests to reduce false positives and maintain sign-in and media-CDN compatibility.

For eligible top-level GET navigation, the App removes recognized campaign parameters such as utm_*, fbclid, and gclid. It does not alter the URL when a signature or authentication parameter is present, or for POST requests and server redirects. Popup and unwanted-redirect protection evaluates user gestures, frame relationships, navigation type, and repeated patterns.

The App exposes Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) preference signals to page JavaScript. Websites are not required to honor these signals, and the App cannot guarantee their effect in every context.

Android System WebView Safe Browsing is enabled. The installed WebView provider may process URL-derived threat-check information and network metadata such as the public IP address. The App declares the WebView general usage-metrics opt-out (android.webkit.WebView.MetricsOptOut=true), but Safe Browsing threat checks and security processing performed by the operating system or WebView provider under the user's system settings are separate. The Developer does not receive threat-check results or provider logs. See Android's WebView privacy information and, when Google supplies the WebView, the Google Privacy Policy.

The App attempts to require relay-only ICE transport for WebRTC peer connections created by a page. This may reduce address exposure through direct ICE candidates, but it can break calls or streams that lack a working TURN relay. A website's TURN provider may receive the public IP address and connection metadata. This setting does not hide the public IP used for ordinary web traffic.

5. Automatic browser bypass and encrypted DNS

Automatic browser bypass is enabled by default. It routes WIT BROWSER WebView traffic through a loopback HTTP/CONNECT proxy running inside the App. The proxy connects directly to the user-requested destination and does not terminate, decrypt, or inspect HTTPS sessions. After a confirmed connection reset or silent drop, it may retry after dividing a TLS ClientHello into multiple valid TLS records.

DNS behavior depends on the security profile:

  • Strict security (default): only Cloudflare DNS over HTTPS (cloudflare-dns.com) is queried. There is no fallback to Android system DNS, a stale address, or a persistent DNS cache. A successful address may remain in running-process memory for up to five minutes. Single-label and .local names are blocked instead of being sent to system DNS.
  • Global Compatibility mode: Cloudflare DoH, Google Public DNS DoH (dns.google), Quad9 DoH (dns.quad9.net), and Android system DNS may be started in parallel. The App briefly prefers a valid encrypted-DNS answer but may use the system result. Local and single-label names use system DNS.

Each contacted DNS provider may receive the queried domain, query time, the network's public IP address, and ordinary connection metadata. In Compatibility mode, the same query may be disclosed to more than one provider. The Android system path may use carrier or ISP DNS, configured Private DNS, or a separately installed resolver such as Intra. The Developer does not receive or control those providers' server logs.

Under Strict security, a successful answer may remain in memory for up to five minutes. Under Compatibility mode, a successful DoH answer can remain fresh for up to five minutes, a system answer for up to 30 seconds, and a previously valid answer may remain as a failure fallback for up to 24 hours. The Compatibility-mode persistent cache is app-private and limited to 256 entries. Enabling Strict security, using Clear browsing data, or clearing Android app storage removes this cache. These are App-side cache periods and are separate from each DNS provider's own retention practices.

Provider policies:

Automatic browser bypass does not use Android VpnService and is not an embedded Intra service, VPN, Tor client, remote proxy exit, location changer, or anonymity service. It does not change or hide the public IP address and cannot guarantee access through IP-, account-, or region-based restrictions. The App has no Tor transport and blocks .onion navigation and DNS resolution before those names are sent to public DNS.

6. Ad and tracker filter updates

The App includes a bundled base filter. When the user invokes Update filters, the App downloads EasyList, EasyPrivacy, and a List-KR-compatible filter from these locations:

  • https://easylist.to/easylist/easylist.txt
  • https://easylist.to/easylist/easyprivacy.txt
  • https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@list-kr/filterslists@latest/dist/filterslist-uBlockOrigin-classic.txt
  • if that List-KR distribution fails, https://filters.adtidy.org/android/filters/227.txt

Those servers may receive the public IP address, request time, the Mozilla/5.0 (Android) WIT BROWSER User-Agent, and ordinary connection metadata. The Developer does not receive their logs. Downloaded rules and the last-update time may remain on the device until replaced, Android app storage is cleared, or the App is uninstalled. Clear browsing data does not delete downloaded filters or user-created element-blocking rules.

Relevant provider policies:

7. Password manager

The password manager is optional. When the user physically taps a login-form submit button in the exact HTTPS main-frame origin, the App may ask whether to save the account. Nothing is stored until the user agrees and completes strong biometric or device-lock authentication. A saved entry may contain:

  • the normalized site origin, including scheme, host, and effective port;
  • username, user-assigned label, and password; and
  • an internal entry identifier and creation and modification times.

A saved account is offered only to the exact same origin, which is checked again immediately before filling. The App does not automatically submit a filled form. Tapping a submit button does not prove that the website accepted the login, so the user should decline a save prompt shown after a failed login. An old WebView, JavaScript-only login control, or cross-origin iframe form may not be detected and may require manual entry.

The vault is stored in app-private, backup-excluded storage and authenticated-encrypted with Android Keystore AES-256-GCM. The key requires strong biometric or device-lock authentication and has a 30-second authorization window. On supported devices, the App requests StrongBox first and falls back to the normal Android Keystore if StrongBox is unavailable. The unlocked list keeps password-free account summaries and loads a password only for the selected operation. To preserve the existing vault format, a vault operation can temporarily decrypt the compatible container inside the App process. The App wipes mutable secret buffers where practical, but Android and Java runtime copies cannot all be guaranteed to disappear immediately.

Passwords are not placed on the clipboard or in an Intent, uploaded or synchronized to a WIT server, or cloud-backed up. There is no recovery key. An entry remains until the user deletes it, resets the vault, clears Android app storage, or uninstalls the App. Changes to enrolled biometrics, removal of the screen lock, security-hardware changes, or Keystore-key invalidation can make the vault permanently unreadable. Resetting the vault deletes the encrypted file and Keystore key and cannot be undone.

The password screen blocks ordinary screenshots, asks Android to hide non-system overlays where supported, rejects obscured touches, and disables state saving, personalized keyboard learning, suggestions, and fullscreen input for the password field. These measures cannot protect against a rooted or compromised operating system, malicious keyboard or accessibility service, external camera, or modified build.

8. Media detection, native playback, capture, and downloads

To locate playable or savable media, the App analyzes the current page URL, WebView requests, media elements, player configuration, manifests, related frames, and network responses. This information can exist temporarily in the open tab and App-process memory. Some websites create the actual stream URL, cookie, or authorization only after playback begins in the page player. The user may therefore need to start page playback, keep the source tab open, and scan again.

When the user requests native playback or a download, the App may replay current WebView cookies and request properties required by the content origin. These may include the source and media URLs, Referer, User-Agent, Authorization, cookies, and selected custom or browser-context headers. They are sent to the requested media host and required redirect targets. On a redirect, captured credentials are removed if the next destination is outside the origin to which they belong; a current cookie for the concrete new destination may be used.

The App handles ordinary files, supported HLS and DASH formats, standard HLS AES-128, and BLOB/MSE capture. For some compatible streams, it may use an AES key or optional media key provided by the page or observed during playback, manifest, and key-response processing. The current release may also use bundled WebAssembly processing code to derive a media key from a supported key response, observe a key used by Web Crypto or the page player during playback, or record already-decrypted MSE data delivered to SourceBuffer in a user-started capture. These keys and data are processed inside the App process to perform the requested playback, capture, or download.

BLOB/MSE capture writes only the portion actually played and delivered to SourceBuffer after the user starts capture. Track data is temporarily written to the App cache. On completion, the App combines the tracks into a media file, publishes it to public media storage, and removes the temporary files. It also removes the capture-session temporary directory after cancellation or a normally handled failure. If the operating system kills the process or the App terminates abnormally before cleanup, some cache can remain until another capture starts for the same tab, Android clears cache, App storage is cleared, or the App is uninstalled.

Encrypted download records

The download list is stored in an authenticated-encrypted binary file in backup-excluded app storage, using a separate Android Keystore AES-256-GCM key. The key deliberately does not require biometric authentication so a user-started background transfer can continue while the screen is locked. A record may include:

  • download identifier, title, type, creation time, status, and progress;
  • source URL, output URI, and error state;
  • request headers such as cookies, authorization tokens, Referer, and User-Agent; and
  • an optional AES or media key.

Retention depends on download state:

  • Queued or running: source URL, request headers, and optional media key remain available while needed to complete the transfer.
  • Completed or canceled: request secrets are removed immediately.
  • Failed: request secrets remain available for retry for no more than 30 minutes and are then removed automatically.
  • Sanitized metadata: non-secret title, status, progress, and output-location data may remain until the user deletes the record or clears Android app storage.
  • Cookies and site data cleared: the previous download-record key is cryptographically discarded and only sanitized metadata is rewritten under a new key. A queued transfer that no longer has request data is canceled; an already-running transfer may keep a short-lived in-memory copy until it stops.

Completed videos are normally placed in Movies/WIT BROWSER, and other files in Download/WIT BROWSER, in Android public media storage. Other authorized apps may read a public file, and it can remain after WIT BROWSER app data is cleared or the App is uninstalled.

My videos

If the user grants video-library access, My videos queries Android MediaStore for the URI, display name, size, duration, creation or modification time, thumbnail, and other metadata of accessible videos. It uses this information to display the device library and provide playback, multiple selection, and deletion. Indexing and thumbnail processing occur on the device, and the App does not upload the library listing or video files to a Developer-operated server. Deletion begins only after a user action and is subject to Android system confirmation where required.

The media features must be used only for content that the user owns or is authorized to access, play, capture, and save under the content provider's permission, website terms, and applicable law. The App does not guarantee playback, decryption, capture, or saving of every DRM- or license-protected item. This Policy does not grant permission to circumvent copyright, access controls, or technological protection measures.

9. Clear browsing data and separate deletion controls

Settings → Clear browsing data removes:

  • WebView cookies and Web Storage;
  • stored HTTP-auth usernames and passwords and WebView saved form data;
  • shared WebView cache;
  • in-memory and persistent DNS state;
  • captured media authorization, temporary site-compatibility grants, and remembered bypass hosts;
  • persisted download source URLs, request headers, and optional media keys; and
  • encrypted tab-session URLs, all current tabs, and their in-memory back/forward history.

The browser creates a clean home tab afterward. This action does not remove:

  • the encrypted password vault;
  • completed public videos or files;
  • sanitized download-list metadata;
  • App settings, downloaded filter lists, or user-created element-blocking rules.

Passwords must be deleted individually in the password manager or by resetting the vault. Download-list entries and public media must be deleted separately from the relevant App screen or the device's file or gallery tools. Android Clear storage/Clear app data removes app-private state. Uninstalling removes private App files, but public media can remain.

10. Android permissions

Depending on the Android version and features used, the App uses:

  • Internet and network state: to load websites and media, contact DNS providers and filter hosts, and detect connectivity.
  • Notifications: to show status and cancellation controls for an active user-requested download. The user may deny it on supported Android versions.
  • Foreground service and data sync: to continue a user-started download while the App is in the background and maintain its progress notification.
  • Wake lock: to keep CPU execution available as needed during an active download.
  • Video read and selected-media access: READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED, or limited legacy storage-read permission, depending on Android version, to display all or the user-authorized part of My videos.
  • Legacy external-storage write: on Android 9 and earlier, to publish a file or perform a user-requested deletion.
  • Hide overlays: to restrict non-system overlays above the password screen where the Android version supports it.

Optional permissions can be denied or revoked in Android Settings. A feature that depends on a denied permission may be unavailable, while other supported browser functions remain usable.

11. External providers, international processing, and third-party policies

The App does not operate its own remote backend. Because it is an Internet browser, the user's device can connect directly to the following external parties, whose servers may be located outside the Republic of Korea:

  • websites, embedded content, CDNs, TURN servers, and login or media providers selected by the user;
  • the installed Android System WebView and Safe Browsing provider;
  • Cloudflare DNS under Strict security, or Cloudflare, Google Public DNS, Quad9, and the Android system-DNS path under Compatibility mode;
  • EasyList, jsDelivr, and AdGuard distribution infrastructure when the user requests a filter update; and
  • Google Play, Android, and the device manufacturer for distribution, platform operation, and security.

The categories transmitted are the queried domain, public IP address, URL, or request metadata described for each function. Transfer occurs when the user browses, uses DNS bypass, requests a filter update, or performs a media request. It continues for the time necessary to perform that request. Provider-side retention, processing countries, and subprocessors are governed by each provider's policy. The Developer does not possess external-provider logs; a request concerning information held by a provider must be directed to that provider.

Principal external policies:

An external provider can change the content, location, or terms of its policy.

12. Information sent directly to the Developer for support

If the user contacts acua0901@gmail.com, the Developer receives the sender's email address, display name, message content, and any attachment voluntarily supplied by the user. The Developer uses it only to answer the request, investigate a reported defect, handle a privacy-rights request, or respond to a legal dispute. Users should not send passwords, authentication tokens, private videos, or unnecessary personal information.

Support records are ordinarily deleted within one year after the response and necessary follow-up are completed. If a dispute, security incident, or legal retention duty is ongoing, the minimum necessary information may be kept until that reason ends and is then deleted. Support information may be processed on the email provider's servers under that provider's policy.

13. Safeguards and limitations

The App applies safeguards including:

  • purpose-separated Android Keystore AES-256-GCM keys for the password vault, download records, and tab snapshot;
  • backup exclusion and atomic writes for sensitive encrypted stores;
  • strong biometric or device-lock authorization for the password vault, with StrongBox requested on supported devices;
  • blocking of local, loopback, private, link-local, metadata, multicast, and special-use targets for native media requests, with DNS-answer and redirect revalidation;
  • a restricted WebMessage path that checks origin, allowed method, size, rate, and recent user touch; and
  • WebView remote debugging disabled in release builds, Safe Browsing enabled, and file-scheme cookies disabled.

No browser, encryption system, blocklist, or security control can guarantee complete protection. A rooted or compromised device, malicious or outdated WebView, operating-system vulnerability, keyboard or accessibility service, user-granted permission, malicious website or downloaded file, external camera, or modified App build can expose information. Users should keep Android and System WebView updated and prefer HTTPS websites.

14. User rights and requests

Subject to applicable law, a user may request access to, correction or deletion of, restriction of processing of, or withdrawal of consent for personal information actually held by the Developer. Send a request to acua0901@gmail.com. The Developer will request only the minimum information necessary to verify the requester and will ordinarily respond within 30 days after receipt. If applicable law permits an extension or requires refusal, the Developer will explain the reason and available recourse.

Most App-use data exists only on the user's device and is not remotely accessible to the Developer. The Developer therefore cannot retrieve or remotely delete it for the user. Use the controls in Section 9, Android Clear app storage, or uninstall the App. Requests concerning information held by a visited website, DNS provider, WebView provider, filter host, or email provider must be made directly to that provider.

15. No sale or advertising use; legally required disclosure

The Developer does not sell or rent personal information or disclose it for behavioral advertising. The App contains no Developer-integrated advertising or analytics SDK. A visited website may use its own advertising or analytics services under that website's policy.

The Developer may disclose support information actually in the Developer's possession only to the minimum extent necessary to comply with the user's request, a legal obligation or valid legal process, protect rights or safety, or investigate abuse. If the App business is transferred, the Developer will provide notice as required by applicable law and require the same or greater level of protection.

16. Changes to this Policy

The Developer may revise this Policy when App functions, external providers, or legal requirements change. The revised Policy will be posted at https://wit-browser-privacy.mipelcw.chatgpt.site, and the effective date above will be updated. For a material change in personal-information processing, the Developer will provide additional notice through the App or store listing, and obtain consent where required by applicable law.

17. Governing law and language

This Policy and the App's handling of personal information are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. A dispute will be submitted to the court having jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act and other applicable law. This provision does not restrict mandatory consumer or privacy rights.

If this English translation conflicts with the Korean version, the Korean version controls to the extent permitted by applicable law.

18. Contact
